Four Pillars of Impact
ECONOMY
PAK delivers measurable economic impact by addressing the systemic barriers faced by youth from lower socioeconomic backgrounds. Many young people in Bermuda encounter limited access to education, skills training, financial resources, and professional networks, factors that too often push them toward unsafe or exploitative informal work. PAK directly interrupts this cycle by creating safe, ethical, and meaningful employment opportunities. By equipping youth with early work experience, transferable skills, and exposure to professional environments, PAK not only reduces youth unemployment but strengthens Bermuda’s long-term economic resilience.
WELLBEING
PAK’s work functions as a vital preventative intervention in response to rising rates of antisocial behaviors among students in Bermuda. Employment through Pay-A-Kid provides more than income, it offers structure, purpose, confidence, and belonging. These protective factors play a critical role in safeguarding mental health during formative years and beyond graduation, contributing to healthier, more emotionally resilient young adults and a stronger overall community.
SOCIAL ENTERPRISE
PAK operates as a community-driven social enterprise that addresses youth unemployment while meeting real needs within Bermuda’s aging population. Employment through PAK provides young people with income, structure, and a sense of belonging, while also strengthening community connections.
Through its intergenerational support program, students assist seniors with household tasks, errands, and odd jobs at no cost. This model reduces isolation among seniors, allows youth to earn community service credits, and fosters empathy, responsibility, and civic engagement. By creating shared value across generations, Pay-A-Kid strengthens social cohesion and ensures economic activity remains rooted in community care.
CAREER EXPOSURE & LIFE SKILLS DEVELOPMENT
PAK prepares young people for life beyond school by providing early exposure to diverse career paths alongside practical life and financial literacy education. Through hands-on work experiences, mentorship, and skills-based workshops, students gain a realistic understanding of different industries, workplace expectations, and personal strengths. This approach empowers youth to make informed decisions about higher education, employment, and long-term goals, reducing uncertainty, strengthening employability, and supporting a more prepared and resilient future workforce in Bermuda.
